The VCDB VerkehrsConsult Dresden-Berlin GmbH was able to use and test both the urbic® system and its predecessor variant TEASys at a very early stage.
For us, as traffic and light signal systems planners, urbic® is an ideal tool for determining and evaluating real traffic quality. The keywords here are weak point analysis and quality analysis and before-and-after comparison. At the same time, urbic® provides us with the opportunity of independently accessing planning-related data and information about the public transport radio infrastructure and procedures such as beacon locations, reporting point chains and/or functions, etc. For example, our traffic studies and plans for the implementation of the Dresden city railway programme 2020, segment 1.2, in the area of Zellescher Weg, are based substantially on this knowledge.

When we entered into a route cooperation with the DVB AG 2 years ago we did not know what to expect in terms of TLS. Tremendous effort was required to continuously guarantee the complete acceleration effect at all TLSs of the route 66/B. After the DVB AG provided us with urbic® for the provision of TLS data, the work involved became manageable. This resulted in the punctual connection of the RVD GmbH buses with the 66/B bus route.

In the last few years, several TLS were modernised on the bus route 261 in the Dresden city area, which also accelerates the buses of OVPS. Thanks to urbic®, who made the DVB AG available to us, provision of data to the TLS was simple and clear. In addition to acceleration of the bus route 261, and thanks to modern TLS technology and urbic®, we can offer our passengers a cross-platform interchange to the tram at the stops Angelikastraße and Waldschlösschen.

Thanks to urbic®, we, as the Dresden public transport company, are in a position to keep all public transport relevant data regarding light signal systems in a database, to maintain them and use them for quality operation. This enables both us and the Dresden Road and Civil construction authority to identify and correct incorrect traffic light circuits in real-time using urbic®. The seamless monitoring of technical functionality, as well as of the quality of traffic light circuits, i.e., hold and release times, represents an immense enhancement in quality for both us and our passengers.

In Münster, the bus acceleration at traffic lights is dependent on various software and hardware components by means of radio beacon technology. A permanent monitoring of all components and possibly a troubleshooting is therefore associated with a lot of effort. The urbic® system represents a powerful and practice-oriented tool for this purpose. With this we are now able to assess both the quality of the vehicle-side and the infrastructure-side elements with little effort and to take appropriate measures.
